To have a ViewTouch Desktop that looks like this is a big part of the reason we use Xfce4. I hadn't ever figured out a way to make this desktop more widely available. Upon reflection, I see no reason that we could not create a page within ViewTouch which looks and functions exactly like the desktop does. Page -101, a new page, is the beginning of this. We could adopt the Blue Marble image as a page background option and could give the functions of a ViewTouch button to icons such as those shown in the desktop. By making use of a special Message available in ViewTouch - RUNCMD: - I have constructed a page (-101) which has buttons which mimics many of the functions on the ViewTouch Desktop, essentially integrating it into ViewTouch. By adding images and backgrounds to ViewTouch so that a button can be replaced by a .png or image in some other image format. The entire desktop could then be recreated, or mimicked, within ViewTouch. There's no reason ViewTouch can't be given any functionality and appearance that we choose to give it. In that scenario it would never need anything like KDE, Gnome, Xfce4, GTK, QT, etc., or at the very least it would be capable of simply calling upon aspects of their functionality. We're already doing this within ViewTouch on page -101 to execute scripts, execute commands in a terminal, and to run programs like conky, filezilla and config-system-printer. It's a completely wide-open playing field for us, especially for software using the GPL like we do. It always has been, except now we have AI and all of the vast breakthroughs of this era in which we live. Ariel is enhancing and updating the code with the benefit of AI empowerment, and as AI moves into the hardware it will certainly move into ViewTouch itself to magnify the capabilities of ViewTouch. |
