Custom event firing from "Edit" in Details Popup

Hi,

I'm quite new to using this library, and I'm not quite understanding the documentation on Custom Events or using the Popups.
I'm looking to use the "Edit" button to open a custom Modal to allow for Event editing, however - I can't seem to find a method to over-write what the button is doing.

Any advice?

Apologies if this is a real basic question, looking to learn and improve
